1994 Buick century with a 3.1 recently replaced fuel pump. A local auto mechanics shop, did change my antifreeze last year. When I have put antifreeze in the reserve tank, the warning light still stays on. After about a 1/2 hour of driving the light goes off. A bad intake manifold will burn antifreeze out your exhaust and drain your radiator without any sign of a leak. If it is OK, you could have one of several problems- A sticking thermostat, plugged heater core, temperature door actuator motor in the dash, etc. The Low coolant light stays on when I start the the car. A bad head gasket will send exhaust into the water jacket which will force the water to bubble up the radiator neck before the engine is even warm. A cheap check for a head gasket leak thats still small is to open up the radiator on the engine while its cold and start it up. The low coolant level light went on when we were on a trip and when we stopped to check it out the radiator was full and the container for the extra was fine. Make sure the rubber hose leading from the overflow tank to the radiator neck is not kinked and allows water to flow in both directions, not just into the bottle under pressure.
